Who says you have to be an adult to own a business? When it comes to mobile detailing, the up-front costs are so affordable there’s an opportunity for anyone industrious enough to get out and drum up clients.

For a young man in Washington State, his detailing company, Night to Day Auto Detailing, is already well on its way. On Wednesday, The Reflector, the local newspaper in Battle Ground ran a story about the genesis of the business and 17-year-old Ethan Epp’s philosophy behind it. You can’t buy that kind of attention.

According to the story, Epp is homeschooled and has cut his teeth in the trade doing jobs for family in friends who say their cars look better than they got them when they were new. He’s also taking a customizable approach, offering flexibility on pricing.

Epp said that to do everything as far as auto detailing goes on a mid-size vehicle usually takes him about five hours. He said he came up with the name of his business, Night to Day Auto Detailing, because he likes names that have double meanings and he wants people to know that when he details a person’s car, it’s going to be a “Night to Day” difference.

As far as pricing is concerned, Epp said that really depends on what the customer wants. He said he will set up a customized package for any customer and give them a price for whatever is important to them.
