The country is celebrating its birthday today, but so is Wash Me Please Car Wash, the latest thing to hit Fallbrook, California. The company’s grand opening was June 21, according to the Fallbrook Village News. The paper reported:

Owner Vince Zura, a local resident, offered free car washes for a four-hour period that day in addition to providing a free barbecue and other refreshments.

Wash Me Please is doing a lot of things right. For one, they’re located on the site of a Shell gas station. Any good retailer knows it’s a good thing to be next to similar kinds of stores. (For example, people going to the grocery store won’t drop in to your boutique leather jacket shop; you’re much better off opening near the department store at the mall.)

For two, they’re offering discounts to seniors and military every day. (Are there bonuses if you’re a senior and a veteran?) That’s the kind of thing that gets you mentioned in the local newspaper on Veterans Day. A little publicity never hurts.

Oh, and one more thing — happy Fourth of July from The Car Wash Business Blog.
