An Arizona entrepreneur is gearing up to open his first car wash after two years of FEMA floodplain-related delays halted his plans.

Jeff Dadam, owner of Fast & Friendly Express Car Wash, remained committed to bringing his car wash business to Maricopa, Arizona, despite deterrence by natural disasters and the city’s negative economic growth, reported InMaricopa.com. Maricopa, a city outside Phoenix, “currently experiences a $274 million leakage of sales that should take place in Maricopa and do not,” Maricopa Economic Development Director Micah Miranda adds.

As the son of beverage distributor Jack Dadam, Jeff Dadam is familiar with patience and perseverance. Both are traits that he learned marketing a European energy drink in the U.S. in the late ’90s. After countless rejections, their product, Red Bull, finally caught on.

Similarly, Dadam is electing to invest his first car wash in Maricopa; a decision that residents are welcoming.  Dan Beach, the director of Maricopa’s Center for Entrepreneurship, lauds this move and adds, “There are entrepreneurs in Maricopa who we haven’t even discovered yet, and through the center, I hope we can find them and nurture them … to hopefully grow their business in Maricopa.”
