A UK man and car wash owner was recently convicted for smuggling illegal immigrants into the country with help from colleagues. The Telegraph & Argus reports that the owner of Pit Stop Car Wash in Shipley is facing prison time when he’s sentenced in a month. A jury found 38-year-old Ali Mahmood Ahmed guilty Monday.

Undercover police were able to pin Ahmed for the crimes when he told them he could help smuggle immigrants into the country. Undercover officers visited his car wash last year when an officer sold Ahmed diesel and asked him to smuggle his brother into the country. Ahmed agreed to do it for £7,000.

Immigration officials would later seize evidence from the car wash. Ahmed at one point told under cover officers that he had smuggled immigrants into the country in trucks. When one under cover officer came to get his car washed, Ahmed pointed out that he could fit two illegals into the vehicle.

During his appearance in court, Ahmed said he was only joking with the officers. He will be sentenced in November.
