A new gas station and car wash business in Shorewood, Illinois is being touted as one of the best designed and most appealing to be constructed in the area. The Herald-News reports that the Gas N Wash held its grand opening Saturday after its design and location were approved by city government.
“There was a lot of anxiety at first when the project was announced. Hopefully, the people who were apprehensive realize it was a benefit to the village of Shorewood and the surrounding communities,” Mayor Richard Chapman said. “Lenny’s Gas N Wash is one of the better looking gas station projects ever built in Will County or the surrounding counties.”
The owner of the new business, Len McEnery, has family experience in gas stations and convenience stores. The new 7,000-square-foot business has both a gas station and convenience store in addition to the express car wash. The car wash will also have a pet washing station for Fido. This is McEnery’s eighth location for one of the complexes in the state.
McEnery said he has seen the industry change since he opened his first location. Now he offers hot food at his convenience stores and tries to add car washes where possible. His goal, he said, is to be a one-stop shop for motorists. His latest location even includes a Dunkin’ Donuts drive-thru. Four of the gas station locations also offer live gaming.
