If you’ve been to a Major League Baseball game, you’ve likely seen some of the promotions that go on between teams and corporate sponsors. Say the Tampa Bay Rays win. Attendees to a game might find themselves eating free pizza the next day from a friendly corporate sponsor.
A similar partnership is taking place in Ohio with a car wash chain now that football has returned to the big screen for another fall season. Mike’s Car Wash in Cincinnati, has partnered with the Cincinnati Bengals. A company press release outlines the offerings to both fans of the pro team and fans of the car wash giant.
The way it works depends on how the players play. Should the Bengals record two or more sacks in a game, car wash customers can purchase a Mike’s Ultimate Wash at a big discount. So instead of paying $20 that day, they’d pay just $14. The company outlines the team’s season schedule so customers can easily follow along, even if they don’t watch the games.
So here’s where it gets good. In addition to the partnership between the business and the team, the car wash also promises to donate $1 for each of the Mike’s Ultimate Wash services purchased the day after a qualifying game. The money from this promotion will go towards The Marvin Lewis Community Fund, a Cincinnati nonprofit.
Sounds like a three-way marketing win to us. If you aren’t located in an area where you can easily partner with a major pro team, why not sponsor a high school team or team up with a club-level game? It’s a great way to bring new customers in and to get your name out there while supporting friendly competition.
