On Sunday, the doors will open to the biggest car wash industry event of the year. The Car Wash Show, the flagship event of the International Carwash Association, is building excitement for the March 30-April 2 trade gathering in Chicago.

For this year’s Car Wash Show, expect lots of talk about 100 years — it’s been 100 years since the first production line car wash, called the “Automobile Laundry,” in Detroit. The association is marking the centennial with a bash at the House of Blues. The party starts at 7 p.m. on March 31.

“The 100 Years of Car Washing Celebration is an exciting addition to The Car Wash Show’s already incredible lineup of offerings,” said Eric Wulf, CEO of the International Carwash Association, in a statement. “We’re excited to celebrate what has become a truly global industry.”

If you’re planning on going, or if you’ve decided last minute to make the trip in to Chicago to hobnob with your colleagues from around the country, The Car Wash Business Blog has everything you need to know about getting there and getting in.

Is it too late to register?

It’s not too late. Members of the association get two free tickets to three days of exhibits. Nonmember tickets start at $189. Click here to see the different registration packages. Then click here to register.

Where should I go?

The show takes place at McCormick Place in Chicago. The address is: 2301 S. Lake Shore Dr. Chicago, IL 60616

Where can I stay?

The Hyatt Regency at McCormick Place is sold out, according to the association. But there’s another hotel close by, the Hyatt Regency Chicago, which may be able to take reservations for special Car Wash Show rates. Call the hotel at 312-565-1234 for details.

Who attends?

Close to 5,900 people turned out for the 2013 Car Wash Show, along with more than 300 exhibitors. They are car wash owners, car wash category managers, convenience store owners, petroleum marketers, and fast lube operators. This, of course, makes it a great place to network or market your products.

Are there events and seminars?

Yes. Some of them, like the “New Investor Seminar,” are taking place on Sunday, March 30, and cost a little more to attend. But most of the events, networking, speeches, and sessions come with the regular admission price. Click here for the schedule of events.
