Everybody loves a good entrepreneur story. If you’re a car wash employee thinking of setting out on your own, here’s an interview with one guy who did it, and is apparently doing it successfully. The News & Observer in North Carolina spoke with Justin Hughes, a young man whose employer shut down.

“I really enjoyed the car wash where I used to work,” he said. “We would wash the car by hand – not machines. It went out of business and I really hated that because I liked working there. I hated to see it go. I started thinking that I wanted to open a similar business – hand wash only.”

Since then, he’s been driving around doing car washing in a low-overhead business model that’s been catching on lately from the U.S. to India, but ruffling a few feathers along the way: mobile detailing.
