logoWe know about at least one instance of Hurricane Matthew affecting car wash owners in the United States. Organizers of theĀ Southeastern Carwash Association, SECWA, announced earlier this wee that their weekend convention in Georgia would be cancelled as they awaited the storm. The expo was originally slated to start Sunday, Oct. 9 and last through Oct. 11.

While it doesn’t sound like Savannah, Georgia was mainly affected by flooding, we applaud their decision to reschedule the event. Hurricane Matthew is being called responsible for four U.S. deaths. We imagine inviting hundreds to an out-of-town convention would have been a bit of a nightmare given the storm and its affect on flights, transportation and accommodations.

In a press release from SECWA, organizers apologized and said they planned to have a new date in the next few days. In the meantime, those who had made reservations at the Westin hotel where the event was to take place, need not call to cancel. Organizers alerted the hotel of their plans to cancel and the hotel staff in turn cancelled reservations. It was not clear whether those reservations would also be refunded.
