Mister Car Wash added six new locations in Michigan this week during an acquisition that will bring the Arizona-based chain even farther ahead in its first place lead for largest national car wash chain. MLive.com reported that the deal for the purchase of six locations in Grand Rapids, Michigan was announced by the company on Thursday. All six of the new locations belonged to a small car wash chain in western Michigan known as Southland Auto Wash.
A spokesman for Mister Car Wash told MLive that brings the total number of locations in 20 states to 212. The company also runs 34 express lubes. Earlier this week we told you that Mister Car Wash was first in the nation of the largest chain, followed by Autobell Car Wash. Hot on their heels is Zips Car Wash, which hopes to overtake the second place chain this year.
“When it comes to best in class in the car wash industry, the Ellis family and Southland team comes to mind,” said Casey Lindsay, director of acquisitions for Mister Car Wash. “We are honored they would entrust us with their business and we’re proud to add these stores to the Mister family.”
Southland Auto Wash has been run by the same family since 1950. The owners said they sold to Mister Car Wash in the hopes they will maintain the same quality service. These six locations re Mister Car Wash’s first foray into the state of Michigan.
