A business owner in Belmont, North Carolina is channeling his love of Halloween this October to offer a spooky treat to customers at his tunnel car wash. Instead of the traditional automatic wash drivers are used to receiving at Aqua Wave Car Wash Express, they’ll get one complete with zombies, skeletons and gore. The owner is transforming his wash into a haunted house of sorts in the weeks leading up to Oct. 31.
“I’m a Halloween nut,” owner David Warlick told his local paper, the Gaston Gazette. The paper writes that the promotion comes just a few months after the business opened back in April. For $20, patrons will get their vehicles washed while seeing actors in costume and done up in full make-up by local artists. It’s already proving popular. One Saturday this month, about 120 cars drove through.
You and your car full of people experience a haunt from the start with Dracula as the ticket taker and a classic horror film character at the exit. What goes on inside the tunnel? Warlick says to come find out, if you dare.
If that all seems a little scary for you, Warlick said he also plans to hold a kid- and family-friendly event on Halloween. The trunk or treat event will be less intense but as much fun for youngsters.
We’ve written about similar promotions in the past. Last year, an Arizona car wash did the same. And two years ago, Ford came out with a scary commercial inside a car wash that received mixed reviews. We say, as long as it’s safe, you can’t go wrong with a little autumn promotion.
