If you’re looking for a car wash marketing idea and a perfect example of viral content marketing, this is it. It’s also just downright funny.
Ford asked several unsuspecting people to stop in for a car wash during a test drive. What they didn’t tell them was that the car wash is going to be overrun by men in horrifying masks. They timed the video perfectly for Halloween.
The production cost of the gag must have been in the tens of thousands of dollars, so it’s probably not practical for most car wash marketing budgets. But it’s definitely a good source of inspiration. Ford posted the video on YouTube, and the only thing they put in the description was: “We convinced passengers to get an innocent car wash-and had some of the undead meet the unsuspecting drivers. WARNING: Video may cause nightmares and inspire pranks. Happy Halloween!”
No hard sell there.
Things to think about: How can you time your content marketing around certain holidays? Who are you trying to target? What kinds of content would those people actually want to watch — and share?
