The fire started under the hood and spread quickly — too fast for the driver to put it out with buckets of water. Before long, the Hog Wash Car Wash in Indianapolis was burnt to a crisp, and nobody knows what happened.
“She was just trying to do the right thing,” an Indianapolis fire captain told the Indianapolis Star. “It’s just right to wash a truck after you haul mulch in it.” According to the paper, the driver had been borrowing the truck from a friend to haul mulch over the weekend and brought it to the car wash to hose it down before returning it. It was parked under a self-service bay when the flames began.
What caused the 1997 Ford F250 to catch fire is still unclear. What is clear is Hog Wash Car Wash is destroyed. A picture taken by the fire department shows the blackened frame of the building and several burned out self-service bays. The fire department said the estimated value of the damage was $300,000. No one was injured.
