Three car wash businesses in Norfolk, Virginia, are working together to catch a thief who has repeatedly destroyed valuable equipment to make off with meager sums of money.

A local news station reports that in one instance, the robber destroyed pay terminals worth about $13,000. “The person that did it literally probably didn’t get $5,” said Barry Little, who owns Solar Wash. When he discovered the damage, he had already been contacted by Shaun Everett, whose Green Clean Auto Wash businesses had been previously hit. Discovering the damage “was literally the most disheartening feeling that you can possibly imagine,” Little said.

The two have teamed up, along with Virginia Beach Police, to try to solve the crime. They’re offering $500 for information that leads to an arrest. Examining their security footage, it seems the thief used an axe and a sledgehammer to break open the pay terminals.
