Weird news never fails to take place at your local car wash. This month, we have stories from Tennessee, California and China where strange stories are making headlines. This is your dose of weird news for April.
In Memphis, Tennessee a 23-year-old man was recently convicted and sentenced for his role in a drive-by shooting. The Commercial Appeal reported the tragic crime and its outcome in court. It’s not strange that crimes should happen in high-traffic areas of major cities, but what’s weird here is how many years the man is facing in prison — and his nickname.
Brashard “Hotboy” Gibbs was sentenced to 143 years for shooting and killing a 41-year-old man at a car wash back in 2013. The sentence is in addition to 20 years he’s already serving for a second unrelated crime in 2014.
And in China, a car wash company is looking to sell its business with sex appeal. A couple of blonde Russian models have been employed by Baywash Bikini Car Wash to wash vehicles and generally look attractive as a way to draw customers. AutoEvolution.com reports the tactic might be a bit salacious but it’s drawing a crowd.
And here’s a laugh for you. One of the main characters in the Fox TV show New Girl had a funny run in at a car wash in a recent episode of the show. Zooey Deschanel’s character Jess gets stuck in a car wash outside the vehicle while her friend sings inside, completely oblivious. Check out the clip at EW.com.
